A Faerie Tale

Once upon a time, long, long ago there was a distant magical city in a far-off magical land. It was in that long ago time and that long ago magical city that there lived a mystic leading a charmed life. Everyday was a fresh time to explore the strange and unusual city of dreams where he lived.

For what he inhabited was a city of dreams, waking and sleeping. In his dreams he was not where he was. That is, as much as he loved the fairytale city, he was only aware of being consciously there when his soul fully inhabited his body. One of his mystical gifts was that his soul was not always where his body appeared to be. His body might be sitting in a chair, walking down a street or driving a car when his soul would split apart. A portion of his soul remained in his body to keep him physically alive. Another piece or more of his soul left his physical body. The various pieces or would go to wherever they were sent. What he knew, what he had always known, was that his body’s soul had always been in at least two primary places. In both primary places he was conscious of being completely, wholly one person.

At the same time, he had always known that a part of his soul had been missing for a very long time. Long before his current life. That part of him was never where it was supposed to be. It was never with his physical body until he found himself living in the magical city in that far-off enchanted land.

The peoples of the many lands in which the mystic had previously lived had called him many by a multitude of designations. In those lands…
