Ah, Calvinism. What was supposed to reform the Western Church has quite nearly destroyed its soul. Thanks to Jansenius and his centuries of acolytes, the Catholic Church is in the same predicament as the Protestant Church. People have been running out the doors since the 1960s. Catholics caught on. More and more ex-Calvinists are doing the same. The fact is that Joseph of Nazareth and his family are long gone. They were well off as builders, not in need of taking collections. Jesus did not make himself God. That came later, carried out by other men in other places to suit their needs. It's unsettling to think that we are nothing but a bunch of money grubbing heretics. And isn't that all too sad.
