Angel Days

At first I thought it was light from outside reflecting off a dark wall at night. Then I remembered there were no lights on. As usual, I was walking through my home at night without a light. There was no light to reflect off of anything.

And then there was another light.

And another.

And they all did the same thing. They greeted me by name.

Some of the lights were globes of brilliant white, gold and silver light. Others took a human shape. Those with human shape wore brilliant flowing robes of white. Some had wings. Like the globes of light, they were angels.

Weeks later, they remain in my home. The dogs ignore them. My husband rarely pays attention to them unless they have some specific reason to work with hm. When they do not inform him that have a particular reason for appearing, he tends not to have interest.

I am eternally curious.

I want to know which ones are here, how many of them have dropped in, what’s the current objective and where do we go from here. When, as has been the case for the last few weeks, they’re about as serious as circus clowns, I continue to be inquisitive. They may be clownish right now, but what will be shown to be the reason for their appearance?

Angels are always around us. I see and hear them. We are in constant communication. Most people claim not to see them or be aware of their presence in our lives.

Some individuals try to shoo away angels. I’ve known Satanists to think they can rid themselves of angels’ presence by willing them away. They behave badly or even commit outright evil actions.

It isn’t that easy.

Angels don’t go away.

Angels have jobs to do.

No matter how much of a miscreant one might be, even a Hitler or a Stalin, one still has one’s guardian angel. There are always other angels present to help us through various situations in life. Whether or not we listen to our angels, they are with us all of our lives. Doing good or evil acts or failing to do them is our decision.

We have free will.

It is our choice whether or not to accept the angelic assistance we are offered. Just because someone makes the decision to steal a bike and acts upon it does not mean their guardian angel did not attempt to help them turn away from evil. The angels’ work is to assist us to do good.

We make the choice. We decide whether or not to steal someone else’s bike. Or whatever.

We also make the choice to do good. Have you ever noticed those remarkable individuals who, while doing good deeds to improve the lives of others, also try not to be caught at it?

They are listening to their angels.

Maybe they don’t see angels popping up around their homes day and night. Maybe they don’t see angels sitting upside down on the sofa or flying down hallways playing tag.

Angels do all of that and more. They can put the clowns from Barnum & Bailey Circus to shame with their antics. But mostly they exist to give us whatever boost it is we need to get through every day and night.

Whether we live in Hudson’s Bay or the Caribbean, mountains, desert or cities of the plain, angels are here. They are present.

Whether we are the good guys, the bad guys or — like most of us — the incredibly average guys, angels are present for us.

They are running in and out of the room as I write. Up and down hallways. Tumbling and rolling and sliding along ceilings, walls and midair. They slide on carpets as if gliding on skateboards.

When I was a child, Archangel Michael would stand in my bedroom while I read my library books, day after day. Outside my window other angels played in the huge pine tree. Sometimes they played with the squirrels and grackles. Sometimes the squirrels and birds lunged at them in annoyance. Michael reminded them to calm down.

That reflects the primary purpose for angels in our lives.

They remind us to calm down. To be steady. We don’t have to rush out and be at the front of the crowd. Nor must we feel like we should follow the herd to keep eye on all the others.

Angels exist in our lives to guide us to be who we are meant to be.

To hold the course.

To be witness to the good we have the power to effect.
