Good job, Mike. I was brought up with "Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus". There is no salvation outside the Catholic Church. When fellow monastics asked me about my belief in this teaching of Cyprian of Carthage, I replied that I would be very stupid to think that my grandmother's family were all in hell. I knew her brother and sister who, I assured them, were most certainly in the same heaven as the best of Catholic saints.
