Hope and Optimism

In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s I worked in American politics. Foolish me. I had no idea what I was getting into at the time. I thought it was going to be just another job. It turned out to be a soul sucking enterprise fit for moral degenerates. My life quickly became politics all day, every day, from the local to the state to the federal levels. Politics was a series of constant battles to see who could hoodwink the most out of who without ending up in Leavenworth.

Reagan was in the White House at the time. Originally there were a relatively small number of people who realized that the Republican party self-immolated on the altar of Reagan in 1980. The last Republican president in American was Gerald Ford just as, until Joe Biden, the last real Democrat in the White House was Jimmy Carter.

In between 1980 and 2020 the former Republican party went straight to hell. Ronald Reagan devastated the Republican Party. He turned it from the party of the average working man and woman into a party of the wealthy elites of whom he aspired to be one. It would have been better for us all if he had stayed a disk jockey in the corn fields of Illinois. Reagan devastated the tax system, was personally responsible for murdering millions around the globe by his refusal to throw the weight of the American government into assisting people with AIDS and involved America in nefarious overseas military misadventures.

That’s what happens when a soulless succubus is elected president of the United States.
