Open Windows

Sometimes the window of opportunity will only open once. There will be but one chance to grab hold of something you may need more than you desire.

The window of opposition will rarely close.

During those days it is inevitable that someone or something appears to forever be between you and your goal. If you are reaching for a goal you desire but do not currently need, that opposition is in your favor.

If someone or something stands between you and success, why? What opposes your achievement of something apparently for the common good?

Reflecting back on life without the pink sunglasses, all of us can put our finger on times when the plans of others for us scarcely synchronized with our plans. Maybe it was eating that one last piece of cake, that extra dollop of ice cream, when we were already full. Or going off to live in a different part of the world away from family and friends. There are days when we are told we’re behaving badly, in opposition to the rest of the world. Someone who believes they know better keeps us informed.

There are days and even years when it seems like the window of opposition will never close. That frigid blast of others’ disagreement to our plans will never end.

Unusually enough, that perpetual opposition may provide the opportunity we need.

When you run smack into unending obstruction, does it ever occur to you not merely to dig in, but to dig deeper? To look deeper inside of yourself for a solution to getting through the wall instead of around it?

When you have connected all of the dots, crossed all of your T’s and dotted your I’s, take hold of the string that ties everything together.

Pull.

Unravel the string.

Rather than starting all over to connect the dots, step back. Examine your unexpected connections. Because deep down inside of yourself you forgot to fit together all of the pieces of your life. The only person who can discover the unknown is you.

Start with the easiest and least complicated step.

Now that you have told the world and the Spirit what you want — what they are supposed to give you — have you stopped to listen? As in actually listening. Stopping the chatter in your head. Hearing your guardian angel’s voice. Waiting for God. Grasping fully the concepts and ideas of what you are being told.

Did you ask for help? Quite simply, rather than attempting to put your plan into action, did you have a discussion with yourself, your guardian angel and with God about what it is you wish to accomplish?

Did you ask where to find the open windows? Where will you be able to reach through the wall? Where are the portals in the wall so that you may pass through?

If you are to succeed in your plan, you will. But only if you are supposed to succeed. Not if you take a wrecking ball to life to force your plans to happen.

That is a clear path to disaster.

When even more angels than usual showed up in my home a few weeks ago I automatically knew I was going to be put through another wall. Experience has taught me that is what happens. I don’t go over or around the walls blocking me from a goal. I don’t dig under them or blast them to smithereens. Neither do I drill my way through. My guardian angel showed me a very long time ago that things will change. I will change. As I change, I will gradually find myself deeper and deeper inside that obstacle blocking me from my goal.

Or, as has happened with ever greater frequency with time and age, I will reach God’s next goal for me.

That is precisely what is taking place as I write this. My plan is to keep writing. Keep seeing and speaking with people every day. I have no plans to do anything fancy. Unless getting out the pots and making supper strikes you as fancy.

It’s when we do the ordinary things in life that we are put where we are supposed to be. Boiling potatoes is no great feat. Or browning meat and onions. The trick is both reading the directions and following them.

I know! I said those terrible words!

Follow directions.

Rather than telling God and the world what you’re going to do for me, rather than demanding more angels to ease my way, I am waiting.

Whatever this wall is, it will not come tumbling down.

I will simply realize one day that I am on the other side.

So can you.
